An aggregate of 76,786 separation petitions were documented cross country from March 2020 to August this year.
Of that number, 66,440 included Muslims, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said He revealed the number in an answer to Hasan Bahrom (PH-Tampin), who requested insights on divorces in provincial networks during the pandemic and measures the public authority was taking to resolve the issue.
Ismail said there was no information dependent on metropolitan or provincial regions, yet Selangor had recorded the largest number of Muslim enlisted divorces at 12,479 between March 2020 and August this year.
This was trailed by Johor (7,558) and Kedah (5,985).Among non-Muslim relationships, Selangor again recorded the largest number of separations with 3,160, trailed by Kuala Lumpur (2,893) and Perak (1,209).
